Orion

Orion/Horsehead nebula 2 - (c) Daniel Murin February 12-14, 2022 This is a stacked image of two different sessions with 120, 180, and 300 second exposures. Edited in photoshop to really bring out the details the best I could. By far the best image I have taken so far! Taken from my Bortle 8-9 backyard in San Diego. Single 180s exposure, Canon-60Da, RedCat51. Optolong-L-Extreme filter.

Orion/Horsehead nebula 2 - (c) Daniel Murin February 12-14, 2022 Labeled image.

Orion/Horsehead nebulae 1 - (c) Daniel Murin February 12, 2022 This is full image of both nebula with the red stretched and the background flattened.

Horsehead/Flame Nebula 1 - (c) Daniel Murin February 12, 2022 After rotating my camera, I was able to capture a wider field and include the horsehead nebula in my imaging of Orion. I was stunned! I couldn't believe I could see the nebulosity and the shape of the horsehead so well. Obviously I had to increase the red channel significantly, and I had a light pollution filter to help (along with an astrophotography fitted DSLR).

Orion Nebula 2 - (c) Daniel Murin February 3, 2022 My first stacked image in Photoshop of the Orion Nebula. I have/had a long way to go when it comes to processing! However, there is only so much you can do with heavily light polluted back yards.

Orion Nebula - 1 (c) Daniel Murin Feb. 3, 2022: 20:22 PST My first tracked, unedited, long exposure in astrophotography . What's amazing is the detail you can see in the unstacked image and even in my light polluted backyard! Made me hopeful I could be okay at this hobby yet, and for what wonder darker skies would hold. Taken from my Bortle 8-9 backyard in San Diego. Single 180s exposure, Canon-60Da, RedCat51. Optolong-L-Extreme filter.
